Sutton admits he can’t confidently predict the cup rematch, noting both sides’ inconsistent form this season. Yet he argues that, despite Rangers’ clear ability under Rohl, the Rangers boss carries greater pressure to secure a trophy.
He suggested that home advantage might typically favor Rangers given Rohl’s track record, but pointed to the weekend’s match as evidence that any result is possible in this heated rivalry.
Sutton contends that Rohl needs the cup more than O’Neill because, while O’Neill has intermittently steadied Celtic by steering them through title contention this season, he adds that Celtic fans won’t lay blame at the door of the Celtic manager for the broader difficulties the club has faced this term. The fault lines and anger, Sutton notes, still point in a specific direction among the Celtic faithful, regardless of O’Neill’s efforts.
